Hello Qlik Folks - I wanted to check if we can set a timeout for long-running queries on Qlik.
On and off, we have seen scenarios where one or the other developer ran a bad query load from an App on the sense hub, and that had been running for a long duration (sometimes days) even after the user logged out. Is there any setting in the QMC, where we can set a timeout for such impromptu queries run by the users as it is not possible to track them , and many times it led to server resource spikes.
The query is for an Enterprise environment. Also, to add the query time out I am looking is for the bad load queries that get stuck at the server. It happens when any user tries to load a bad design App from their workstream.
Thanks,
Olip
Hi @Olip
There is a parameter known as QueryTimeOut that we usually configure on ODBC connections allowing us to define the maximum time allowed for a query to run; The QlikSense data connection for Oracle and MS SQL include an Advance Options (Create a Microsoft SQL Server connection) You did not identify your backend database, I suggest you to search for the Query Time Out property name for your database engine, as an alternative, you may try an ODBC data connection (as you can define the time out at the DSN definition); note the ODBC connection should be used when developing the QlikSense Application, once it is stable, replace the ODBC connection with their engine corresponding one!
Hope this helps,
Hello Arnaldo - Thanks for the response.
We do set timeout settings however, we are having issue while users are loading their Apps from Workstream. Most of the issues are around bad design(joins) and the load is stuck in the Qlik Server.
The time out I am looking for the long-running load jobs on the hub executed by the user that leads to large memory consumption.
