I have been developing an app on a virtual machine which has become corrupted. I can attach the drive as a secondary drive on another VM and view and retrieve the contents. Is there any way to retrieve the app from the old drive?
Thanks
It will depend on where the app's data is actually stored.
Did your qlik installation exist on the VM? Or were you just logged in to qlik as a developer through the VM?
In either case, you should be able to check where the app is stored by going to the Qlik Management Console and then Service Cluster. There should be information there about where your apps are stored.
Does your qlik installation point to the new VM?
Also, you may try just importing the apps directly to your QMC if you have the files (see below)
This is in the QMC under Apps:
I've created a completely new VM with a new Qlik installation. The apps are stored in the folder qlikshare\Apps.
The old VM will not boot up at all, so I attached it as a second drive and I can see the files. They are stored in the same place on the old drive. I want to move the apps to the new drive. All of the files on the old drive are named with just long hex codes. I've tried to copy them to the qlikshare\Apps folder on the new VM with no luck. If I try to import one it states that the selected file is not an app.
I'm very new to Qlik and find the online documentation difficult so this is several weeks of study and work.
Unfortunately, this is now beyond my knowledge. You may try contacting Qlik support directly to see if they can assist you. Good luck!
Hello,
You must add the qvf extension to your files and import then in the QMC.
Qlik will recreate the application.
