Section access in Qlik Sense

Hi all,

Did any body tried section access in Qlik Sense desktop , I tried with a simple inline script with a reduction field and got an error,

I think section access in Qlik Sense is only handled from Qlik sense server, can any release a primer or help for this.

How about direct discovery? is data reduction based on a section access table (defines which user has access to which data) possible if data discovery is used  in qliksense? if so how is it going to be implemented?

Hi Meriem - the real intention of Direct Discovery allows you to mix real-time query access from a data source with the Qlik in-memory data model. This occurs after a user is logged in, the app is loaded and the DD access is performed on initiating selections. Looking at the FAQ for Direct Discovery - it states that section access and Direct Discovery are not support.

You can now test our new Product SAM that will fully automate Section Access Generation product.

It is no longer necessary to maintain a section access list in Excel or in your database, SAM offers you a complete web application that will secure all your data accesses.

A user can request access to an application with a simple form. Then administrators get notified and can assign the RESTRICTIONS and OMITS from the proposed fields values. User access are generated from on a single line per user, no need to generate tedious cartesian products and include all values to get a "*" value working correctly .

Moreover SAM is able to generate an automatic access section from the authorizations of the QMC, and Reverse Engineer existing section Access a time saving for simple cases.
