Sense 2.0 desktop, installation ends successfully but it doesn't work

Hi all,

I can install Qlik Sense 2.0. successfully but when I start Qlik Sense it doesn't work, the program doesn't open

I’ve already done:

Uninstall Sense Desktop

Delete everything C:\Users\<user profile>\Documents\Qlik

Delete C:\Users\<user profile>\AppData\Local\Temp

Install Desktop using - Right click Run As Administrator on the setup executable

Into C:\Users\Paolo Macchi\Documents\Qlik\Sense\Log\Trace

I find a log file  IT000775_Start_Engine_2015-06-26.log

Hi Paolo,

You should also have these processes running:

Can you check the install log? It is located here

C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\Temp - look for: Qlik_Sense_Desktop_20150624082447_2_SenseDesktop.log - or something similiar - and attach to this discussion.

Please mark the appropriate replies as CORRECT / HELPFUL so our team and other members know that your question(s) has been answered to your satisfaction.

Great - thanks, it looks like the installation was successful according to the log.

Here are a few thoughts - not in any particular order:

  • Do you have any virus software or fireballs running on the workstation? I am thinking that the .exe process is being stopped from executing somehow. Can you stop those and try starting Qlik Sense Desktop?

  • Is there another machine you can install Desktop on just to note the behavior?
  • Can you uninstall, re-download a new Qlik Sense Desktop setup package and then reinstall?

Let me know how you do.

Mike

Hi Mike,

I've installed Qlik Sense Desktop on another machine without the antivirus.

It works well.

So I think that is enough removing the file (QlikSense.exe) from the antivirus scan.

Thanks a lot

Thanks Mike !!

Wanted to know just about to curiosity - why do we require to stop anti-virus programme while installing Qlik Sense ?

Thanks

bad news,

we've analyzed the logs before modifying the policy of the VSE .

It has logged nothing about Qlik Sense, so it seems it has blocked nothing.

Hi Sanket,

In general, anti-virus programs now come with malware and internet protection, firewalls etc. so it is easier to just stop the service first. It is an older technique, but helps isolate other 3rd party factor that may cause an installation to fail. Think of it as a way of troubleshooting a failed installation.
