Shortcut for folder in Qlik Sense via Data Load Editor

Hi, I'm trying to check and explore the content library in Qlik Sense.  I have created the content library and tried to upload one pic from my local system. Once done I can able to see that image into the respective folder (Static Content) from Qlik Sense server.

Question: When I tried to upload files via data load editor. I can able to see the folder structure details. But some videos its showing shortcut folder path to Qlik sense server.

reference link : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TA8qmacWogU  (In this video I can able to see the folder shortcut)

please suggest.

Hi @balajibc64 ,

I only recommend the below.

So the best practice on your case is,

1. Not give any root admin, content admin or customized role that having data connection access to the specific user. Refer to the below article.

https://community.qlik.com/t5/Official-Support-Articles/Folder-connection-missing-when-creating-a-ne...

2. Let root admin create a folder connection to the specific folder.

3. In QMC>Data Conenction, find  and eidt the new created folder connection, in the Security Rule part, create a associated security rule. and give the specific user access to this new folder connection.

4. When the specific user in the app>data load editor, they will see the folder connection in the connection list on the right hand.

5. The above practice will make sure the specific user only has access to the specific folder for data connection. they will not have any view of other folders on the server in C or D drives.

Hi @balajibc64 ,

I am not sure if you are looking for the folder path which holiding the uploaded file via Attached File in Data load editor.

If yes, then you can find the uploaded file from the folder

\\qliksensesharedfolder\StaticContent\AppContent\yourappid

I hope this helps.

Hi @Jack_Guo  Actually I'm looking for the shortcut folder.  That means, I'm navigate to Qlik sense Hub then in my work space, creating the new page. In that page it will ask it will ask "Add data from files and other source".

Once I click on that, it will take next screen it shows like connect to new database with some options. In that left side we can able to see file locations options. After click on that file location options, it will show 2 options (one is folder shortcuts and other is computer (like C: and D : drive).

My question is how to create a short cut folder path ? Whether it will create automatically or need to do manually?

Actually in my organization some restrictions so that not able to paste the screenshots.

when you "click on that file location options", then copy and paste the file folder path in the Path box, then press Enter key. This folder path will be shown under the Folder Shortcuts list when come back again.

I hope this helps.

hi @Jack_Guo  Yes If I did like and proceed further. Automatically next time its showing the folder path.

Question: If we are storing all the data in cluster storage means what I need to do? I'm facing some path mismatching issue.

@Jack_Guo Also any other way to show folder shortcut path, instead of pasting this path in the Path box?

Hi @balajibc64 ,

If the target data folder is on a shared drive, then you will need to copy the path, for example "\\shared drive\file\file.csv" to the Path box. After the folder is connected, you will see a new data connection in the data load editor screen. So you can select any file under the "\\shared drive\file" folder to load data from the file in the data load editor screen.

Hi @Jack_Guo I'm not getting it. If possible could you please explain like steps.

Also I tried this way before.

1. Created a new app

2. After open the app under data editor.

3. Right side, click the new connection

4. Added my connection details.

5. After that I copied the path and paste in the PATH tab.

6. After that when I opened the shortcut is showing.

My question , is it possible to get the shortcut without copy paste the path in the PATH tab or any option we have while creating the data connection we can give?
