Shortcut for folder in Qlik Sense via Data Load Editor

Hi, I'm trying to check and explore the content library in Qlik Sense.  I have created the content library and tried to upload one pic from my local system. Once done I can able to see that image into the respective folder (Static Content) from Qlik Sense server.

Question: When I tried to upload files via data load editor. I can able to see the folder structure details. But some videos its showing shortcut folder path to Qlik sense server.

reference link : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TA8qmacWogU  (In this video I can able to see the folder shortcut)

please suggest.

Hi @balajibc64 ,

"My question , is it possible to get the shortcut without copy paste the path in the PATH tab or any option we have while creating the data connection we can give?"

If you add a data connection in Data load editor,

1. Create new connection.

2. Select folder.

3. Copy and paste the file path to the Path box and press enter.

4. Give a name for the data connection.

5. Press Create button.

6. Then you will find the new created folder connection in the data connection list.

7. Back to the Data Manager, Add data >File locations, you will find the new created folder connection under the Folder shortcuts.

I hope this is clear.

Hi @Jack_Guo One more Question, While choosing the path the respective user can able to see all the server folders under C and D drive like Program Files, Program Data etc.

How to restrict the see those files? Need to see only respective folder to upload the documents.

Please suggest.

Hi @balajibc64 ,

"While choosing the path the respective user can able to see all the server folders under C and D drive like Program Files, Program Data etc. "

>>> the other user will not able to see your folder shortcut list. Only the users who have Root admin or Content Admin role assigned that will be able to see the server folders or C/D drives etc.

Hi @Jack_Guo Nope. Whoever going to access the folder, they can able to see all the server folders under C and D drive.  How to restrict that?

Moreover, we need to restrict the folder access for some users.

Eg: User why they need to access some Qlik config files? We need to restrict.

Hi @balajibc64 ,

Nope, only user who have Root admin or Content admin role assigned can view the server folder via File Location.

Hi @Jack_Guo Ok. But I check one of my user. The user is having only DepartmentHubAdmin role, but he can able to view the entire folder.

Hi @Jack_Guo My exact query is this

"Restrict Directory/Folder Access when Uploading File to Qlik after Creating a new App"

Hi @balajibc64  "DepartmentHubAdmin" is not default admin role in Qlik Sense. that role must be copied from one of the default Qlik Sense admin role and customized in security rule. you have to check it in your security rule.

*** Qlik Sense service account is setup for accessing Windows folder/folders, no matter which user you login in Qlik Sense.

- When user has been assigned with Root Admin or Content admin role, the user will be able to see the folder structure and drives like c, d when they create a folder data connection.

If you don't want those users who has been assigned with Root Admin or Content admin role to view/load the data in any specific folder, you should remove the "Qlik Sense service account" from the folder. Right click on the folder >Properties>Security tab> Remove the "Qlik Sense service account" from the user permission list. When user create a data connection, they can see the folder but can NOT see the file/files inside the folder in Qlik Sense.

**please note, the "Qlik Sense service account" is in the local admin group, so you will need to remove the local admin group from the folder user permission list as well.

- When user does NOT assign with Root Admin or Content admin role, the user will NOT be able to see the folder structure and drives like c, d when they create a folder data connection.

I hope this is clear.
