Can a master calender be used from aggregated formats i.e. MM-YYYY

Hello

I am using a master calender throughout my entire dataset.  Each table will have a date in the DD/MM/YYYY format and each date is called FactDate

However, there is one dataset which is already aggregated to MM-YYYY level and before I start going down dead ends, does anyone know whether I can use a master calender at this aggregated level?

If so, would i need to load in an extra master calender, or whether the MM-YYYY field could be called FactDate also?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Kind Regards

Helen

Generally a master calendar could be created on a higher level then a date - but in your case I would create a date from your MM-YYYY: makedate(right(MM-YYYY, 4), left(MM-YYYY, 2), 1) as date. There shouldn't be any problems - I do the same matching with my monthly targed-data to my daily sales-data.
