Server / Hardware Configuration

HI  Everyone

Was wondering how to decide what kind of server to get to run the Qlikview Server ? CPU? Memory? Disk?

Any whitepaper on how to make these kinds of decisions??

Regards

Meir

HI

Thanks for the link. From the Contents it doesn't look like you mention how to decide on the hardware.

Hi Meir,

The attachment should give you some guidelines for Memory usage etc...

Here are some points I have used in the past.

RAM USED DEPENDS ON:

=========

number of users,

the number of apps

volume of data in use.

Processors

==========

Intel instead of AMD.

Intel performs better with QlikView (a result of architecture).

Use maximum number of processor slots used.

Memory

======

factors:

=======

size and complexity of the data,

composition of the application, type of user etc)

rough calculations:

==================

Size on disk = 10% of source data size

Size in memory = 4 x size on disk

Memory per user = 5% of size on disk

So for a 10GB data source with 5 users this would be 1GB on disk,

4GB in memory and 50MB in memory per user.

Disk Storage

============

There only needs to be enough disk storage to hold the required applications.

This can be configured in a Raid 1 configuration.

If you need to do some benchmarking have a look at the following document:

Hope this helps
