Invalid Key error in GeoAnalytics connector and Map Extensions

Connecting to a local Qlik GeoAnalytics server fails with the following error:

Invalid Key

Either your key is invalid or it has expired.

The same Invalid Key message can also appear on map objects when using the Qlik GeoAnalytics extensions.

Resolve a license mismatch across Qlik GeoAnalytics components

The license applied to the Qlik GeoAnalytics connector and map extensions must match the license applied to the Qlik GeoAnalytics server. If the licenses don't match, re-license the connector or the server by following the instructions in:

• Installing Qlik GeoAnalytics Server
• Installing Qlik GeoAnalytics for Qlik Sense

In some cases, the license key doesn't take effect because the server had no connection to the internet when it was applied. When this happens, update the license manually in the configuration files for the Qlik GeoAnalytics connector, extensions, and server.

Qlik Sense server

Qlik GeoAnalytics connector configuration file: C:\Program Files\Common Files\Qlik\Custom Data\QvIdevioConnector\IdevioGeoAnalyticsConnector.exe.config

The additional numbers following the license number (Example: 0000000011111111:1654281610406) reflect a timestamp generated on install. This is intended to prompt the GeoAnalytics server to re-fetch the key rather than use a cached one if the cached one is older than that timestamp. 

Qlik GeoAnalytics extensions license file: \\<file shared server>\QlikShare\StaticContent\Extensions\ideviomap\License.js. Edit this file to update the license.

Qlik GeoAnalytics connector configuration file: C:\Program Files\Common Files\QlikTech\Custom Data\QvIdevioConnector\IdevioGeoAnalyticsConnector.exe.config

QlikView Qlik GeoAnalytics extensions license file: one of the following locations:

• C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\QlikViewServer\Extensions\Objects
• C:\Users\<admin account>\AppData\Local\QlikTech\QlikView\Extensions\Objects
• Or, in the QlikView Management Console, go to System > QlikView Servers > Folders, and check the System Folder for the Alternate Extensions Path setting.

Edit the License file at that location to update the license.

Qlik GeoAnalytics server

License file: C:\ProgramData\Qlik GeoAnalytics Server\server3\config\IdevioLicenses.lef

Verify that the license information in all of these files matches. If it doesn't, manually update the files so the values match.

Resolve an incorrect Qlik GeoAnalytics Server installation path

Verify that the license was applied to the correct installation path. The Qlik GeoAnalytics extensions are stored in the StaticContent folder within the shared directory. To find this path, open the Qlik Sense Enterprise Management Console, and go to Service Cluster.

1. Open the Qlik GeoAnalytics License Tool: C:\Program Files (x86)\QlikView\GeoAnalyticsLicenseTool.
2. Select Custom Installation, and enter the Static Content root folder path (from the Qlik Management Console) with \extensions\ appended. For example: \\servername\Share\StaticContent\Extensions.
3. Apply the license.
4. Return to the app, refresh the page, and verify that the map appears as expected.

Cause

The license applied to the Qlik GeoAnalytics connector and map extensions doesn't match the license applied to the Qlik GeoAnalytics server, or the license key didn't take effect, for example, because the server had no connection to the internet when the license was applied.

Thanks for the article. What should be the license format in C:\ProgramData\QlikGeoAnalytics Server\server3\config\IdevioLicenses.lef. Can you give an example like the other 2 files for QlikSense. I am getting Invalid license key error when trying to select data from the Geo Analytics connector.
