After refreshing a client, query variants are missing from the standard area even though they should have been included in the client copy. This can occur if the source client number for the client export is different from the target client number. Client number is encrypted in the report name generated for the queries for the standard area. The query variants actually do exist in the target client, but they cannot be used. They are not tied to the target client’s generated reports due to the client number difference so there is a disconnect, and they cannot be accessed.

This is not an issue caused by Qlik Gold Client, but it can affect your testing efforts.  SAP OSS note 374503 has more information on this issue. It also describes the solution. Program RSAQ_CLEANUP_QUERY_VARIANTS can be executed in the target client to clean the query variant tables. If a variant “belongs” to a query report for another client, it is found by the report program. To correct them, keep the checkboxes selected, and click F8 to execute it. It will suggest moving or overwriting the selected query variants. After executing, verify it by backing out and executing RSAQ_CLEANUP_QUERY_VARIANTS again. It should not find any results. Then you can use these queries with their variants as desired

If layout variants in the standard area are used with the queries from above, these likely need to be converted also. The root cause of this is the same: source client number for the client export is different than the new target client number. SAP OSS note 1299542 describes this issue. All of the layouts exist in table LTDX, but they are assigned to the wrong report. Program RSAQ_LAYOUT_CONVERT can be executed in the target client to convert the report name for each layout to the correct one. It will show which layouts should be converted. Simply highlight the layouts and click the Convert button. The program also shows any layouts that were already converted or recreated in the target client.
