Multiple users cannot use QlikView Desktop in webview (version 12.80)

After upgrading to QlikView 12.80, multiple users logged in to the same machine (such as through RDP) are unable to use the QlikView Desktop client's webview feature.

A spinning wheel is displayed, and nothing is loaded.

Resolution

Upgrade to QlikView 12.90 SR1 or later and configure additonal ports:

  1. In Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\QlikTech\QlikView\
  2. Open the settings.ini file
  3. Add the variable WebViewPort=4751
    4751 is the first available port after 4749.
  4. Increase the number for each following user (example WebViewPort=4752 for the second user)

If you cannot upgrade and will remain on 12.80, instruct your users to open QlikView as administrators:

  1. Right-click the QlikView Desktop shortcut
  2. Choose Run as administrator

Cause

The default port (4749) is locked for only one user.
