Could not connect to SQL server using Microsoft SQL Server Connection in Data Manager but the connection is ok through OLEDB and through ODBC DNS.

Error message:

Please check the values for Username, Password, Host and other properties. 
Description: Communication link failure. 
Details: 
Error [08S01][Simba]Connection broken

Resolution

 

  • Verify if there are semicolons or other special characters in the password.
  • Is the TCP/IP protocol enabled in the SQL Server Configuration? See screen capture:
