This is a companion article to Qlik Sense Enterprise for Windows - New Security Patches Available Now  and only applies to the patches affected by QB-30633.

If you have experienced issues with visualizations and extensions not loading after upgrading to the security patches released on the 4th of December 2024, upgrade to the new patches which address QB-30633:

  • May 2024 Patch 11
  • February 2024 Patch 15
  • November 2023 Patch 17
  • August 2023 Patch 17
  • May 2023 Patch 19
  • February 2023 Patch 16

If visualizations and extensions do not behave as expected after the upgrade, follow the outlined steps below:

  • If the extensions are not available in the Qlik Sense Management Console, on the file share, as well as in the assets panel

    Solution:

Restart the Qlik Sense Services services, then verify again

  • If the extensions are available in the Qlik Sense Management Console, on the file share, as well as in the assets panel, but not visible in any of your Qlik Sense apps

    Solution:

    Clear the browser cache

  • If sheets are not rendering and the error 'an error occured' is thrown

    Solution:

    Clear the browser cache

  • If extensions continue to not import or load, regardless of the above two steps taken.

    Solution:

    1. Stop the Qlik Sense Repository service
    2. Open the file C:\Program Files\Qlik\Sense\Repository\Repository.exe.config
    3. Go to the section <appSettings>
    4. Add the key VisualizationExtensionsExtractFilter as the last key in the <appSettings> section:

      <add key="VisualizationExtensionsExtractFilter" value="md|css|js|json|pdf|png|qext|txt|html|htm|gif|jpg|jpeg|wbl|otf|ttf|woff|woff2|eot|svg|bmp|mp3|jp2"/>

    5. Save the file
    6. Restart the Qlik Sense Services
If issues continue regardless, contact support so that we can assist you effectively.

Hi, if the workaround (add rule in repository.exe.config) is applied after installing patch 10 (May 2024), does it make sense to install new patch (11)? Or is it making the same change to the config file?

In other words, what is adviced:
- Leave patch 10 (with workaround --> no visible issues at the moment)
- Install patch 11

When adviced to install patch 11, do we need to roll back the workaround change before installing patch 11?

Hello @dbroeze_axians

The latest patches include the workaround. If you have already upgraded to, for example, May 24 Patch 10, have applied the workaround and are not experiencing any issues, then there is no critical need to apply Patch 11.

If you do decide to upgrade, consider it like any other patch application. You also do not have to roll back the changes.

All the best,
Sonja

Dear Sonja,

We have upgraded qliksense to Nov-2024 and also path-5 and we found same issue wherein this container object is showing invalid vizualization.

As you have mentioned we have checked our repository.exe.config file and we also found the entry for
<add key="VisualizationExtensionsExtractFilter" value="md|css|js|json|pdf|png|qext|txt|html|htm|gif|jpg|jpeg|wbl|otf|ttf|woff|woff2|eot|svg|bmp|mp3|jp2"/> is already available ...

Kindly let us know if this is bug or how can we resolve this issue as we already have above key value available in repository.exe.config file

Yes. I have created case with support and awaiting for their response to connect.

Meanwhile I would like post here I have tried to import single extension using QMC and checked the log file so I am getting below error message into log file located at
C:\ProgramData\Qlik\Sense\Log\Repository\System_Service.txt

Is there any option to configure the list of extracted file types via the QRS API?

We provide an extension with files that are not on the "VisualizationExtensionsExtractFilter" list. Those files are currently silently ignored and this causes errors when using the extension. Requiring a manual change in the Qlik Sense installation files is a significant obstacle to install or update the extension.
