Qlik apps slow to load

Our Applications take a long time to load, especially certain sheets, and sometimes I get the following error message: timeout exceeded."

"Just" optimize the data-model and the UI by using a star-scheme data-model and avoiding aggr() constructs and if-loops within the UI.
