Fetching data from a database hosted in AWS RDS

Hi all,

I'm a Qlik Cloud user, I have a professional license assigned and I need to query a database which is hosted in RDS (AWS). Since I'm not allowed to whitelist the Qlik Cloud public IP and setting up a VPN inside Qlik Cloud tenant is not possible, what are the other options we have? I read the following ones

- Download a data gateway and set it up where the engine is. Unfortunately, this is not possible because it's hosted in RDS.

- Using Qlik Talend Data integration, this is a different product that also needs to be subscribed to, no?

Thank you!

@dmnab1 I agree you are pretty limited if you cannot whitelist the IP ranges, I suggest reaching out to your Qlik Account Manager to find out if Talend is an option for you.

The data access gateway should support your requirement. You do not install the gateway on your db server but on a server that can access your RDS db. This would need to be a windows server you can run in AWS to access your RDS instance.

so I'd need to configure the odbc connector in this windows server machine, no? Will this server run queries or process data against the postgres instance? I ask you to estimate the ec2 instance size. Thank you!

It would query the Postgres db and then send the results to Qlik cloud for your analytics use cases. Sorry, but I’m not an expert in the sizing of that environment or the gateway. I recommend asking in the analytics forum (this forum is for Data Integration).
