Creating a vertical bar chart using error bars

Good day everyone,

I was wondering if someone was able to create a vertical bar chart in NPrinting using Excel error bars?

In Excel (2016) I can define a custom data set to set the length of the error bars. Everytime I try to do that, NPrinting crashes. Is there a workaround to accomplish that?

We use NP Version: 22.15.2.0, so maybe this issue has been solved in later releases?

Thank you in advance for your reply!

Kind regards

Stefan

Hi,

I made some testing on my side and I dont have any issues. I can use error bars with Custom "Specify Value" option and my designer does not crash. Problem I have is that my chart type despite having horizontal bars is showing the vertically. I only had to click on "Change Chart Type" and it looks back ok again.

@StefanE

There is a possibility that this type of NP report created with Qlik Sense or QlikView data may not be supported.

Waterfall type chart is not supported for NP Powerpoint so the same might be true for NP excel reports.

If not supported, suggest that you create your chart in Qlik Sense and add that that chart as an image to your NPrinting Report.

@Ruggero_Piccoli can you confirm or update here...thank you in advance.

Hi Frank,

thanks for your reply. I edited my post  since I'm not using the Excel waterfall chart type to create a waterfall chart. Maybe there's some hope left... Otherwise it has to be dealt with outside of NP manually.

I guess you face issue when you try to configure object on NPrinting.. have you thought about using xlsm file and having a macro which would run after report is generated ( when users open file). That macro could update chart with the required error bars references.

just a thought…

Thanks Lech, unfortunately Macros are not an option but that's alright. I have to work around that problem manually for the time being.

Cheers Stefan

Hi,

I need to do some tests. I suggest you to open a support ticket with your template and a qvf with a realistic dataset. We don't need the real data, just similar.

Hello,

that is good news. I'll wait till the newest release and MS365 is installed at our company before testing again. If it's possible on your end, it should be possible on mine.

Thanks for taking the time to test!
