I have 2 different scenarios when trying to open existing or new Excel reports using NP Designer. I researched Qlik sites and I have what I’ll call a “work around” but the result still has a quirk. We are currently on NP Nov 2020.
On one server (Microsoft Windows Server 2019), I have Excel 2013 installed. When I open an Excel template in Designer, I see the initial splash screen with the NP version but Designer never opens. I apply the “work around” described below.
On my local pc, I have Office 365 installed. When I open an Excel template in Designer, the report opens but is scaled really big. I apply the “work around” described below.
Work around: Right click on NPrinting Designer.exe > Properties > Change high DPI settings > enable Override high DPI scaling behavior, Scaling performed by “Application”. This gets my Excel templates to open in both scenarios, however the left navigation pane in Designer renders oddly (but appears to be functional).
Anyone else have this issue and/or is it fixable? Thanks.
Side note: We recently moved our NP environment (Microsoft Windows Server 2019) to a faster vm and since then I have seen these issues, so it appears to be some kind of compatibility issue.
Hi Kris - yes, on the high resolution screens the rendering is just like on yours (small icons with large gaps between them)
Your workaround is the only way to get this across or you should change default zoom level on your laptop to 100% only, restart and use max resolution of FullHD. I have experienced the same on 4K screen on 13inch DellXPS laptop which I think was overkill. As soon as I changed the settings to 100 % zoom in display obviously I could not use anymore my laptop screen as everything was just too small. When connecting to external FullHD monitors also set to 100% zoom everything worked ok.
In short - this issue is mainly Windows 10 or Windows 2019 (and maybe 2016 too..) zoom issue on high resolution screens.

Lech
Doing the 100% display didn't do anything for me, hence my workaround. But do you also have the issue with the odd rendering of the left navigation pane/tree in Designer?
