NPrinting Distribution question

All,

I wonder if anyone can help with what I think should be a very straightforward Nprinting distribution problem but I'm struggling to find an easy answer. We have one report that is to be distributed to a number of managers in Excel format. I’ve created the report and split it at ‘Page’ level by Manager. I can equate that manager to a user or email address and have imported the distribution list of users via Import Task. So the report is set up and the distribution list is set up. But this is where I have become unstuck. I want the appropriate Manager sheet to go to the manager and thought I could do this via filters. I tried using various forms of OSuser but now realise that doesn’t work. Can anyone advise ?

Hi,

I suggest to study documentation first:

Filters:

https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/September2020/Content/NPrinting/ReportsDevelopment/Static-dyna...

Users and user filters import via excel:

https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/September2020/Content/NPrinting/DeployingQVNprinting/Import-Us...

Setting up user filters manually:

https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/September2020/Content/NPrinting/Recipients&Users/Create-users-...

This can be achieved in 2 different ways:

1. section access - requires proper setup on Qlik Sense and NPrinitng level, I am not sure what you tried to do with "OS user", but unless you meant to use section access and configured your NPrinting users with their respective domain accounts and connection with section access settings, you will not be able to use it.

2. by creating filters and assigning them to users : In short you need to create filters (filter for each manager) and assign it to users. You can create users manually in console or bring them from AD or XLS file. You also need to create filters (again manually or via XLS import). I have provided links above. Once you have users and filters created you need to link them together: (again either manually or via XLS import and again link is above).

You don't need a Page in your report (it is effectively redundant) as Page should be replaced with filter associated to user.

I suggest to get proper NPrinting training which will cover basics and fundamentals. NPrinting is Enterprise class tool and should not be used without training.
