Reports-Edit template

Hi,

I'm new to NP,  trying to understand how to build a report using Qlik's documentation.
I'm trying to perform the following step:

But, when I'm trying to click the button on my NP, nothing happens.
Looking for solutions over the Qlik help, I saw that Qlik NPrinitng Designer might be missing
though I don't understand why since I'm developing via web.
Is that really the case?
How could I know why I cant edit template?
And how can I fix it?

Thanks!

ok then...

so - just to finish this topic off - you need to install Qlik NPrinting Designer to be able to edit report templates. Make sure you meet all requirements regarding installing correct version of designer etc... (all informationis available on https://help.qlik.com ).

thats it.

I guess that thread now can be closed.

cheers

Well - looks like you are missing the most basics NPrinting training. You jumped to building report without reading the basics about architecture and requirements.

So go ahead and study https://help.qlik.com

Sample architecture: https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/May2021/Content/NPrinting/DeployingQVNprinting/Single-engine-d...

As you can see - NPrinting Designer is a hard client which is required and YES - you are missing it!

You are not going to develop report in web client (who told you that?), you are going to use web based admin console to manage environmnet but development is done using hard NPrinting Designer client which also need to meet set of other requirements:

https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/May2021/Content/NPrinting/DeployingQVNprinting/System-requirem...

Since you have no experience with NPrinting i suggest you study thoroughly whole help document as there is huge amount to learn before you can make  any report.

cheers and good luck

Hi Lech,

Thank you for your answer.
Haven't mentioned, but I'm using:

Qlik NPrinting June 2019

Version: 19.19.4.0

I'm new to np, that's true.
But actually I went through the documentation step by step(creating app, creating connection etc.)
and now I'm reading about reports, where I stuck in my question.
I have no experience in np, but I can see at my work place that past developers have
developed without that designer (maybe simple mail reports without any design I guess).
More than that, I'm pretty sure they worked through the web, also the whole documentation is web based as you can see in the picture I've attached above.

So I guess I can still make report without designing?
Please fix me if I'm wrong.

Your version of NPrinting is not supported anymore -just FYI!

The only kind of report which dont require designer are Entity reports - which you have no control over - you just send table, chart or sheet from Qlik Sense and cannot format it in any form. Details here:https://help.qlik.com/en-US/nprinting/June2019/Content/NPrinting/QlikViewEntityReports/Intro-EntityR...

I dont really call it "report" building as you are not building anything and only telling nprinting to take one single object and send it "as a report" to someone. All other templates (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Pixel Perfect and HTML) require Designer installed on the PC from where "Edit Report" button will be clicked.

There is no way past developers developped something without designer (unless we talking about entity reports), and frankly at some stage you will require designer anyway as entity reports give you 0 flexibility on how your report may look like.

When you say "you are pretty sure they worked through the mail" - what do you refer to? I dont understand that statement...

I meant to write through the web, sorry.
maybe they were actually  developing entity report as you mentioned.
