Best way to swap from one machine to another and resume workflows?

Hello, question - whats the best way to swap from one qlik host to another after exporting and importing tasks to resume workflows? Will it continue normally if the same task is started from the new host? Do any extra measures need to be taken in count?

Thanks ahead!

It's been my experience that when you import a task to a new server, it will not allow a resume, since it considers it new and will only allow "Start Processing."  To get around this, use Run/Advanced Run Options/Tables are already loaded.  Start processing changes from:  and then pick a date and time a few minutes before the task was stopped on the old server.

This assumes the tasks are not currently processing a backlog on the old server (i.e., no large TSWP files).

Hi @Aegis ,

In addition to PGN, If you move the entire data folder including sorter and state manager files then there is a workaround to resume the task using QEM.

1) Go to QEM and see what options exist to start the task. you will not find the Resume option.
2) Create a test task with the null target. Start and stop the test task.
3) you will see the resume option for the only test task.
4) Hold the control key + select the test and select all other tasks which you want to resume.
5) Now you can resume all the selected tasks.

Thanks,

Swathi

Hi Aegis,

Please review this article as it may allow you to do what you want. It would be for the entire data folder for all task.

Also please do test this out prior to using it in production environment.

Some of us aren't as fortunate to have QEM.  😃  That sounds a little easier!
