I am not familiar with Qlik Replicate and would like to seek professional advice.
In case the tasks in Qlik Replicate failed and stopped. There are 2 options:
1. Resume processing
2. Reload Target.
Which option should I select if the task is stopped due to error? Any guideline or reference to help to make the decision. For example, if the system returns several error codes, we must select "Reload Target". Or we can always select “Resume Processing” in the first attempt. If it fails, can then select “Reload Target” in second attempt. Or any other suggestions so that we can decide the next step after the task gets the error.
My main purpose is that I need to provide a guideline to the team members about failed case handling. If my team member encounters error and the task(s) is/are stopped, how can they respond based on the fact or data.
Thank you.
Hello @YC123 ,
Welcome to Qlik Community forum and thanks for reaching out here!
During the execution of a Qlik Replicate task, Replicate maintains the stream position, which indicates the last processed change event in the source database transaction log. This is particularly useful when the task is stopped manually, by a scheduler, or due to errors.
When the task is restarted, there are different options:
Resume Processing – Qlik Replicate resumes capturing changes from the last processed position, ensuring no data loss. This option is suitable for most scenarios. For your scenarios, if the task stopped because of errors, and DBA fixed the error, then the task can be resumed.
Reload Target – Qlik Replicate restarts data replication from scratch. If Full Load is enabled, the process begins with a Full Load, followed by Change Processing. This option is used in cases where certain source database logs, such as Oracle redo logs, cannot be restored.
Hope this helps.
John.
