Hi team,
I want to know if changing the compatibility parameter (12c to 19c) in Oracle's DB will be having an effect on running Qlik Replicate tasks. Is there any considerations that should be taken care of while doing this.
Hello @Sreehari ,
If the Oracle version is 19.x and you are intending to upgrade the COMPATIBLE version from 12c (min is 11.2 max is 19.0) to 19c, there is no impact to Qlik Replicate. However please take note that you can advance the compatibility level of your database by changing the COMPATIBLE level setting but no way to get back to lower level unless a point-in-time recovery.
Hope this helps.
John.
Hello @Sreehari
As mentioned in the user guide
"If you set the Oracle compatibility parameter, make sure you specify a version supported by Replicate. For example, if you are working with version 19.x, you cannot set an earlier version as the compatibility version."

Hi @Sreehari
At the documentation link @sureshkumar shared, change the Qlik Replicate version number at the top left of the screen to the version number you are running in order to confirm the versions of Oracle that are supported. The compatibility should be set to a supported version to avoid unpredictable results as we have only tested and certified the version with the versions listed. Please take note of the required driver version as well, taking into account the client and server versions Oracle supports. For example, I have seen issues with using version 12 client with version 19 database.
Hope this helps!

Hello @Sreehari
To add more to previous Experts comments
"When an Oracle DB compatible parameter is changed, it can have significant effects on the database's behavior and performance. The compatible parameter determines the level of Oracle compatibility for the database, with higher values enabling more Oracle-specific features. Changing this parameter can impact query execution, data type handling, and compatibility with Oracle tools and applications. For example, increasing the compatible parameter value may enable support for Oracle-specific data types or functions, but may also introduce potential compatibility issues with non-Oracle systems. It's essential to carefully evaluate the impact of changes to this parameter to ensure optimal database performance and compatibility. "
Qlik Replicate is Third party tool so and rely on the Generated Redo and archive log to process and fetch the changes to the configured target. As Compatibale parameter makes Flash back recovery related things obsolete/unusable.
For Qlik replicate follow the Doc Shared by Previous Tse. Mainly Compatible parameter changes required post upgrade to major version or introduce some addition feature.
