Jim,

Hello, thank you for the post to the QDI forums. The AIS product is now out of Service and depending on how the product is being used will depend on if you can move to the Replicate (ARC) Product for Z/OS. Can you share more details on the AIS Product and configuration you have for these environments and what type of Datasources you have configured on Z/OS? Since the AIS Product is out of Service (Support) you would be able to run with the new DB2 12 version however if you run into any issues we would not be able to assist if there is a DB2 12 issue with the tool. As posted the Replicate (ARC) component can be installed on Z/OS to connect to DB2 Tables defined to this environment, VSAM files, Flat Files along with IMS running on Z/OS with the new Product.

Hi Bill,

    We’re using AIS to connect to DB2 tables on the mainframe:

Attunity Server Daemon (IRPCD)(V.5.3.3.43 32-bit) - Started at 24-Jul-22 03:54:53

SUBSYSTEM = PDB2

PLAN = PLAN

SMS_STORAGE_CLASS = SCUAT

Jim,

Thank you for the reply and confirmation. Since the AIS Product is out of Service and your current setup is accessing DB2 Tables on Z/OS you can upgrade and install a Support Replicate version for the same access. However keep in mind how the Tables are being used with AIS Product as from the update you have ODBC connections setup to the Datasources you have defined in AIS for an ETL process downstream?

Confirm the below:

- how are the Tables accessed from AIS via the Datasource you defined in the Bindings

- what processing are you running on the DB2 Tables

- what is the purpose of the AIS Setup to the DB2 Tables

- Replicate is used to Load and Change Data Capture of Tables from Source to Target environment

- depending on the setup and how the Tables are being used in AIS will depend on if you need to upgrade or stay with the AIS product

Thanks!

Bill

Hi Bill,

I checked with the team that uses the AIS software.   They are using the software to direct access defined VSAM/IAM and SEQ files and DB2 tables.    At this time, they plan to sunset this software prior to the end of this year.   Therefore, we are planning to stay on the AIS software until the sunset.

Thank you for your feedback.

Jim,

Great thank you for the reply as with the current setup and use of AIS for the data access the Replicate product can connect and access the data but your use case would not fit the Replicate usage. Just to cover all bases I have attached the Replicate Connect (ARC) component you install on the Z/OS environment to use with the Replicate product. Thank you again for reaching out and hope you find this information helpful.

Note: I just wanted to make sure you had all your options and possible replacement to AIS.

Thanks!

Bill
