Oracle redo log and number of Log Stream tasks

Is it unreasonable to have 20 separate Log Stream staging tasks accessing a single Oracle 12c database version 12.1.0.2?  The concern is the number of concurrent Oracle processes trying to read/access the redo log, and will there be any contention/latency/etc.  The source database has 4 groups 2 members

Hi John,

The logstream feature is to  eliminate the overhead of reading the source for each target separately.  In your use case i think having 1 logstream staging task and then 20 logstream replication task will also work but i cannot say for sure as i am not aware of your current architecture. Any reason why you will need to create 20 logstream staging task?

I will recommend working with our Professional Services to make sure that you get the assistance that you need for the implementation/configuration. Engaging Professional Services will ensure a thorough and pro-active setup of your environment with various architectural artifacts taken into account.

Thanks,

Lyka
