Qlik Replicate using Delphix oracle source endpoint

We are using Delphix oracle instance as our source for our development, can replicate connect to Delphix oracle for replication? I tried to create a connection in replicate pointing to Delphix but I am getting  ORA-12170: TNS:Connect timeout occurred error.

Any help on this is greatly appreciated.

Hi @NewbieQlik ,

The user guide does not provide certification for the Delphix Oracle as a source.

We kindly request that you submit a Feature Request to enable support for the Delphix environment.

To submit Feature Requests going forward please use our Qlik Community "Product Insight and Ideas" forum as these requests will no longer be handled as technical support cases. As a Qlik Community member, you can actively engage with our Product Management team, vote on a product idea coming for other Qlik customers, submit your own ideas and get feedback from other members.

To get started please see our article: "Getting Started with Ideas": https://community.qlik.com/t5/Qlik-Product-Insight-Blog/Getting-Started-with-Ideas/ba-p/1684011

You will be required to have a Qlik ID to logon to the Community which is not the same as your support portal logon. If you have previously registered for a Qlik ID such as one you use to access the downloads site, you can use the same to logon for the Community. First time accessing Community with a Qlik idea will prompt for a username alias to be used when posting to the Community. This alias is not a logon but for display purposes when posting. If you do not have a Qlik ID for logon, you can register at the logon screen. The Ideas blog post will provide information on how to use the Ideas board and how to access it.

If you have any issues registering or logging on to the Community, please submit a new case with the issue you are having so we can direct the case to our Customer Service team for assistance. Please let us know if there is anything else we can do for you at this point as this is no longer the place to submit feature requests.

Thanks,

Swathi

Hi,

As we understand Delphix Oracle is a  Virtualization Engine. Please open a case so we can check intenaly with out support team whether it is supported or not.

Thanks & regards,

Well ORA-12170 means that even the first steps to talk to an Oracle instance cannot be made. At that point there is really NO Replicate specific action happening. You should research this OUTSIDE Replicate first. Can you connect (from that server) using SQLPlus or SQLDeveloper? Was the Oracle Client recently installed/altered - restart the Replicate server. What is the connection string used (replace 'sensitive' words with place-holders). Is there a TNSnames in play? Can you even ping the Source DB server from Replicate server? What about TNSPing?

The bigger question is whether it makes any sense at all to use a Delphix Virtual instance as a source. For me that seems to be a silly idea.

Good luck!

Hein

Hello,

Delphix is another platform to land the oracle instance, if you can make a connection replicate will work.

Thank you,

Dinesh

Is there any special configuration required to read archived logs when we use oracle Delphix as the source endpoint?

@NewbieQlik , the TNS error is a connection error.

are you using Replicate on Windows ?

if so can you test with Windows ODBC 64 bit to try to connect to your Delphix  database, does it connect ?

Hi,

Are you able to test the connection with Oracle Delpix as the source endpoint?

From the previous comment I see you had a TNS connection issue

I don't see any special configuration for Oracle Delphix  as source end point.

Please refer below link for configuration required to read archived logs for Oracle source end point.

Setting advanced connection properties using Replicate Log Reader ‒ Qlik Replicate

Thanks
