Hello @Naga_vivek ,
Thanks for reaching out to Qlik Community!
Looks like you are 'downgrade' Qlik Replicate from version 2023.5 to 2022.11 which failed certainly. Please take note that during the installation/upgrade-installation, Qlik Replicate will upgrade the executable files (.exe and .dll etc) and also upgrade the repository files (.sqlite and .repo etc) also.
While the downgrade installation, the old versions (v2022.11) of executable files cannot work with higher versions repository files (v2023.5 in your case). that's why the services cannot be startup. Question is: did you have a backup of the DATA folder, or did you ever export the repository? if yes, we may overwrite the DATA folder before the lower version installation.
Hope this helps.
John.
hi @john_wang
Thank you for the reply
We took the backup at the time of upgrade(nov 2022 to May 2023 ) and downgrading( from may 2023 to nov 2022). which data backup folder I need to override Nov 2022 version data folder or May 2023 version data folder backup?
Could you please let me know the steps to override.
Thanks
N Vivek
Hello @Naga_vivek ,
Glad to hear you've the DATA backup. We need the DATA folder of v2022.11. The steps are:
1. Un-install Replicate 2023.5
2. Rename the DATA folder (or overwrite it by using the backup)
3. Copy the backup DATA folder to Qlik Replicate installation folder (if you did step 2)
3. Fresh-installation of Replicate 2022.11
The 2 services (if you are running Windows) will be startup automatically during the installation done. Feel free to let us know if you hit any issue. We are here for help.
Good luck,
John.
BTW, what's the error messages you got after installation of 2023.5? The error messages can be found in files "repsrv.log" and "repuictl.log" (default location is: C:\Program Files\Attunity\Replicate\data\logs). If you are facing the below error:
REPO-E-REPOOOD, Repository 'Global' or one of its ingredients are out of date, please run the following command to upgrade the repository: RepUiCtl.exe repository upgrade --repository <repository_full_path>
Then you may upgrade the repository manually to fix the error.
And also please check the link Qlik Replicate May 2023 Release Notes - Initial Release until Service Release 1
Why? Was there an issue with the next version? What was it ? Did you report it?
If this is a corporate-policy / playbook driven question the. I think the answer is : NO. Just NO. There is no formal, supported, downgrade path.
The supported method is to restore the old version using a backup. You are likely to have to reload and/or start by timestamp to be able to continue.
Therefor, be sure to upgrade DEV and QA first for a while to avoid having to ever think about going back in the PROD environment
Hein.
Hello @Naga_vivek
It's always recommend performing upgrade in lower Environment. If you caught up into any issue on prod. then engage Support to resolve the issue. Sometimes issue can be fixed by updating SQLite files.
