Hi all,
I know this is pretty simple and basic question but please bear with me. We're planning an upgrade to Replicate. How do I find the most current version in the downloads sections I'm supposed to use? The downloads page is very confusing to me with all the various filters. Sadly, we are still using version 5.01. Thank you!
Hi @rrhascall ,
Exactly. You have to verify both source and target sides Database Clients softwares versions meet the requirement eg Oracle client/SQL Server client etc.
Some client software type changed - R&D choose new client type to support more features and improve performance. For example SQL Server endpoint ,we used SQL Server Native Client in version 5.x and 6.x, and in higher version 7.x we changed to Microsoft ODBC Driver.
thanks,
John.
Hello @rrhascall ,
Qlik support can provide you download links of the latest supported major versions, 6.6 or 7.0. We recommend to upgrade to the latest build of a major version.
However v5.1 is pretty old there are many significant changes compare to the current versions include:
1- Replicate itself especially the console and security technology, introduced many new features and enhancements
2- Versions 6.6/7.0 require higher versions of the Database Clients softwares. you have to upgade or reinstall them
3- If you are using agent (eg on AS400, Mainframe etc...) then in higher version maybe it's agentless
4- We need to verify if your source/target databases versions are in support scope (old versions of DBs are depecated in higher Replicate versions)
From above you see it's not an easy and straight upgrade (you may need multiple upgrade steps). I'd like to suggest you open a support case in Salesforce, Qlik support team will help you to determine a best 'upgrade' approach: fresh install 6.6/7.0 and re-config the tasks, or take multiple upgrade steps from 5.1 to 6.6/7.0. that depends on your environments/databases, and the project requirements.
Hope this helps,
Regards,
John.
Thanks for your reply John.
Not clear regarding your point #2 - 2- Versions 6.6/7.0 require higher versions of the Database Clients softwares. you have to upgade or reinstall them.
What specifically is the Database client software you refer to? Is it Oracle client for example?
