Will an Oracle Exadata patch on Oracle 12c cause issues?

Hi,

We have a client who has Oracle 12c on Exadata as their source endpoint. We are aware of the Oracle July 2024 patch on Oracle 19c which caused some issues with QR versions under 2024.5 sp03.

My understanding is that Exadata and the Oracle database are separate systems, and since Oracle 12c doesn't receive any more updates, it should be fine to proceed with patching Exadata without issue.

Furthermore, I haven't seen any mention of any issues like this for Exadata and Oracle 12c.

Here is the Oracle patch issue i referred to: https://community.qlik.com/t5/Official-Support-Articles/Qlik-Replicate-tasks-crash-due-to-changes-to...

Confirmation on this would be appreciated.

Hi @MoeE

There would only be an issue if Oracle changes the behavior of the redo log. This is not a common occurrence when Oracle provides a patch. However - we would need to know the exact Oracle patch you plan to apply in order to check with our internal support team confirm for you, please advise. Please also let us know the full version number of Qlik Replicate that you plan to use with it.

Thanks,

Dana
