Access Denied even if no Section Access applied to an app

Since a recent upgrade to QS September 2019 P1 we have noticed intermittent issues of users getting an "Access Denied"  message when opening an app that has no section access applied, and should be open to them.   We have several apps that do have section access and understand the issues when we see the Access Denied messages there, but cannot understand why a user would see this message where there is no section access applied to the app at all.  Are there any other contributors to the Access Denied message other than Section Access?

does this come to one user or many?

If one, is the user the service account?

From which version you have updatet from?

The other visible reason could be security rules. Are there any selfdesigned?

Thank you for the reply.  This is happening for several users, but have not seen it for the service account.  We updated form November 2017 to September 2019.  Yes we do have self designed security rules - with the specific one that controls this gives users access to see apps based on a naming convention that corresponds to roles in Active Directory (ie an AD role for Customer X would give permission to see apps than begin with "Customer X"). In this case, there are several apps that have the same naming convention and no section access, and users can have intermittent Access Denied messages - they can open an app OK 8 /10 times and get the Access Denied error 2/10 time for example on the same app with no edits in the load script or security rules.  We do have 1 through that have been a consistent offender and gives the Access Denied message much more often - where would be the place to focus our attention for this one?

Hi,

We having the same behavior and we recently upgraded from QS Sep2019 to Sep2019 patch 8. This message appears only for applications that have been published or republished since the upgrade.

We're not using any section access and this message appears also to the app owner

Hi, we are experiencing the same problem - we don't have section access, but one user always gets the "Access denied"-message. He can click it away and continue working, but it is super annoying as it happens quite often.

Could you solve the problem back then and if yes, how?

Many regards,

Anna
