This video shows you how to add a background layer in a Qlik Sense map. Starting from Qlik Sense April 2019 release, it is now possible to set a default map background for all new map charts. Enabling further customization of backgrounds, now users can choose to set their own predefined background instead of using the Qlik standard background.

This feature provides better support for handling geographic considerations such as disputed regions with politically sensitive boundaries.

You can use the qvf attached to try out this and the other Qlik Sense feautures included in Qlik Sense April 2019 release.

@morenoju

the image is retrieved directly from the browser so as long as the user have access any store is fine.

Another option is to store the images inside the app using base64 and data URI, similar to #5 here: https://community.qlik.com/t5/Qlik-GeoAnalytics-Documents/Top-10-QGA-tricks-Qonnections-2018/ta-p/14...

Thanks,

Patric

@Patric_Nordstrom , what if the file isn't public? Is there a way to pass the credentials from the store to the Qlik Sense app?

Thanks!!

@morenoju not inside the app, since the user retrieves the image directly from the browser it never passes the sense server.

Hi @Patric_Nordstrom , thanks for the quick response.

I'm wondering what alternatives I may have since some of the images I have to use, being incident related, might be "confidential" and only the user of the Qlik Sense app should have access to.

Maybe storing them in the Qlik Sense server itself could be an option?

Any ideas?

If you are using QSEoW you can upload images to the media library and pick the url from the QMC.

Thanks,

Patric

Hi, @Patric_Nordstrom , I am using QSEoW  indeed. However, I'm going to be dealing with so many images that I need to be able to have a script that uploads them automatically somewhere the Qlik Sense app can reach to. Do you know if the media library allows uploading files programatically?

If not, I may try setting up a local IIS and hosting the files there as @Radu had mentioned earlier on this same thread.

This might be what I was looking for in order to upload files programatically...

@morenoju I agree with @Radu if there is a lot of images involved it's better to place them on a IIS or equivalent. The QS server is not optimized to be a image webserver.
