1 AccessPoint for 2 different QVS. Is it possible?

Hi all.

I want to know, if it possible, how I can setup 1 QlikView Access point for two different QlikView servers.

My current QV environment is:

machine 1: all QV services (QVS, QDS, QMC, etc)

machine 2: all QV services (QVS, QDS, QMC, etc)

today these 2 physical servers work separately and each of them has own Access Point:

http://server1/qlikview

http://server2/qlikview

My task is create one common Access Point for both of them.

for example, let's try to imagine this situation:

- server1 hosts only 1 qvw user document - dashboard1.qvw and when I open http://server1/qlikview, I see this document in the Access Point.

- server2 hosts only 1 qvw user document - dashboard2.qvw and when I open http://server2/qlikview, I see this document in the Access Point.

but I need to open link http://mainserver/qlikview and see 2 documents: dashboard1.qvw and dashboard2.qvw

Is it possible? and how?

As I understand, it should be resolved with 2 options at least:

1) take an another physical server, with limited set of Qlikview services (I don't know exactly, but, as I understand, we no need to have QVS instance on this server) and implement some special settings (or may be tricks )

2) Implement some special settings with one of our current servers.

I mean that we can use one of two existing our servers and setup a common AccessPoint.

I hope both variants are possible, but I don't know what should I do for creating a common AccesPoint.

Has somebody any ideas?

P.S. we use QlikView 11 SR2 Update2 and Windows Server 2008.

thx a lot.

Anatoly.

Hello Andreas

thanks for your reply.

But us I understand yiour suggestion is use one Access Point folder for both servers, in other words, you suggest to use QV environment like Clustered envirionment. Unfortunately, we can't use clustered environment yet.

Today we need 2 separated boxes (2 regional QV environment), each of them should works separately.

but we need one common Access Point   for them.

As for alerts, I told about Qlikview entire alerts (not alerts from QDS). I mean that in qvw you can setup alert on post reload event. And our main issue with alerts regards with these entire qvw alerts.

Why do we need to have alerts from both servers? because user should understand type of server which send specific Alert. and when we have 2 different QMC with own Email server settings, we can use different email address from. And when user get new alert he look at email address FROM ans he could understand what QV environment has sent this alert.

Not applicable

You can distribute to different folder, by using mounts.

So QDS distribute to mount 1 and QDS2 distribute to mount2. Or to the same.

Each task will have it´s own set of recipients and therefore other users that are not suppose to see, for example QDS1 ones tasks, will not do so. Using mounts will seperate it even more, but i´ts still the same AccessPoint.

And alert mail can be used the way you want with one email server. Each QDS has it´s own set of recipients and therefore they will get the "proper" email from the right QDS that has a failed task.

Hm...

A speak about another alerts (not alerts about failure tasks), we have a lot of different alerts inside in qvw file

these alerts work each time when document was reloaded and include different information about new content (for example Daily Sales, Daily % of Plan, etc)

Anyway, as I understand, my task is impossible

I mean that we can't have one Access point for 2 different QV boxes...

Or nobody use it and doesn't have any expertise in this question...

thanks a lot
