AccessPoint Function question.

After editing the qvw file, when saving with control+s, the corresponding qvw file is modified in the access point browser.

Even if I save the qvw file after editing, can I make it not applied if I don't reload?

It feels like we are going in circles here.

If you edit and save any file, say a text file, you would expect the changes to still be there next time you open it, and if someone else has access to this file and open it, the changes you made are there.

It is the same principle here, if you edit and save a QlikView document (qvw) it will do the same thing. When you open the AccessPoint, it reads the version of the qvw document that is in a mounted/root  folder. If you have changed that document, the changes will be there.

So if you don't want the changes to reflect in the AccessPoint, do not edit the documents in the root/mounted folders. Make a copy and edit that.

To answer your question about how you know if you have a publisher or not, did you buy and activate a publisher license. If so you will have an exptra service under the system tab in the QlikView Management Console (QMC)

Hi @jtj02080208,

You referring to editing a QVW using QlikView Desktop and you are asking if it is possible to see changes in the QVW on the AccessPoint without reloading?  if this is the case, no, the QVW must be reloaded first.

Hi @jtj02080208 : it's a good practice not to edit directly the QVWs on the root or mounted shares, but to make a copy to a different location, edit that, and replace the file when all the changes are done.

Even better: if you have a Publisher, make a copy of the source document, edit that, replace the source document when done and then publish it via the publisher.

If you change a document that are in a mounted folder, it will reflect in the AccessPoint.

Are you editing the published qvw?

I am not sure if you are using a publisher or not, but if you do you should edit the source document in the source document folder.

If you are not using a publisher, you should take a copy from the document folder and make the changes there.

Hi @SackettD ,

the access point you mention has nothing to do with QlikView's AccessPoint. Please, stay on topic.
I have also noticed that in some recent comments you have added external links which look suspiciously like spam. Please, stop doing that.

Make QVW edits using QlikView Desktop and save with control+S to view changes in QVW in AccessPoint without reloading.

Is it possible to prevent QVW from changing in AccessPoint when just save?

I edited the posted QVW.

How do I know if I'm using a publisher?

Is it possible to prevent QVW from changing in AccessPoint when just save?

good way thanks.

Users want that when they open and edit a published QVW, it is not reflected in the access point QVW.

Is it possible to prevent QVW from changing in AccessPoint when just save?

Hi @jtj02080208 . At some point the AccessPoint will show the changed document. You might delay that for users that have already opened it by allowing multiple versions of the document in memory, but new users coming in will see the edited document.
To solve this, do not edit the published document. Edit a copy and then replace the file when you are ready to publish the changes.
