Deployment from one server to another

Hi,

We had 2 servers server1 and server 2.

In server1 we haive installed all the 5 services and we are using DMS authentication to give access.

In server2 we are using as cluster mode.

Now recently we have splitted the distribution and management service from server1 to server2 and cluster mode remains same.

So now in server 1 we have QVS,Directory service connector and Webserver.

In server 2 we have qlikview server(Cluster) Distribution service and Management service.

Before when we services were in one server the authentication method was we used to publish the documents from source documets and then go to user documents and give access in Authorization tab.

Now after splitting the services we are pulishing from the source documents of server2 to the user documents of server1, The applications is distributing fine but the access are getting revoked for the users added in the Authorization tab.

Please help me in this

Hi,

Why are you doing a folder distribution? When you do a folder distribution the .meta file is created and NTFS rights are used. If you want to do DMS it would be best to server distribution.

Why are you doing it in the User Document Tab? This should be done in the Distribute Tab in the QMC. This will override what you do in the User Document Tab.

Publisher will override whatever you have entered manually in the User Authorizations tab. Use the distribute tab in your Publisher task to grant permissions to specific users, just like Bill suggested.

Hi Bill,

When all the services are in one machine and then if we are deploying the applications we used create a task by giving the below options and then manually add the users from the user documents, at this time access which was already there in the user documents is not getting revoked but when we are publishing from one server to another it is getting revoked.. is there any reson ?Untitled.jpg

I'm not sure if you use Distribute to Folder (i.e. outside of QlikView service reach), whether DMS has any say in managing permissions on those documents. Normally DMS will be used when document access is handled by QlikView components. What happens if you use Distribute to QlikView Server instead of Distribute to Folder? In that case the publisher will pass both the reloaded document as well as associated permssions (and all other settings that are configured in the task) from QDS to QVS on another machine.
