I was looking at the Governance Dashboard (2.1.4) And the Usage Analyzer V3 and it seems that very few of the sessions by license holders using QlikView Desktop are being being recorded. Or for some reason not being loaded by the Governance Dashboard or Usage Analyzer.
It has been suggested that opening a file directly instead of 'Open in Server' might not be able to be recorded?
Only other possible issues I am seeing if that the QMC>System>Log Collector>Include Windows Event Log is not checked
and QMC>System>Setup>QlikView Servers>xxxxxxx>Logging>Event Log Verbosity is set to Low.
Would either of these be the problem or does anybody have any suggestions?
Edited to add: And it is not picking up sessions through the desktop when opening the file rather then 'Open in Server'. Is there a way to get those session when a file is opened directly? It still has to use a license so QV should be able to record those sessions shouldn't it?
Hi @timothyj,
Suggest that you compare what you're seeing in the QVGD to the actual QV Server Sessions log to check for discrepancies.
In QV Desktop, using the File > Open in Server menu to open a QVW file is tantamount of a user going to the AccessPoint in a web browser and accessing a QVW. Directly opening a QVW with QV Desktop (by using File > Open menu or double-clicking a .QVW) isn't logged by QV Server since QV Server isn't involved in the process. So, this information wouldn't be included as a "session" and tracked by QVGD.
Best Regards

Thank you Chip! That makes sense.
