How does one create "On event of another task" for synchronizing the reload process

I have qlikview version 10.  I do not have the publisher application, simply qlikview server.

I see on the document reload (scheduling) tab there appears to be an option to tie the scheudling of a report to an external event.

When I try to activate this function there is no values in the drop down list to utilize.

How do I define an event so that it is useable (visible) in this droip down window.

The server documentation does not provide any assistance.

Retbrook,

Please clarify the type of trigger that you are trying to configure.  In title you specified "On event of another task", but in the body you indentified an 'external event".

If "On event of another task", the drop-down should be populated once a task on another object has been configured.

If "External Event", the field is text box and expects you to enter a password, not an event.

A screen-shot would be helpfull.

Thanks,

B

There are 2 events that are displayed in the web interface for scheduling reports.

The “on event of another task” was not displaying any values in the drop down menu initially.

I just discovered this morning through another blog on this site, that this is a bug in internet explorer.

When I switched over to Firefox, the drop down was populated.

But I am interested in potentially utilizing a generic event, such that when my data warehouse has completed I would create a trigger file for example to inform a report to initiate.

So, I wanted to know what the “External Event” was referring to. Can I create a trigger file that I can define here.

I only see a password field next to the external event.

Thanks

Bob

There are several good links on the topic of external event triggers, including the following...

Also, refer to section 27.5 Triggering EDX Enabled Tasks in the QlikView Server Reference Manual.pdf

Good luck,

B
