How to proceed with QlikView upgrade

I would like to upgrade QlickView, Npinting server, ODBC Connector, and additionally install WebConnector.
The version is below.

<current version>
QlikView Server: 12.10.20500.0, 12.10.20700.0
Npinting Server: 18.9.5.0
ODBC Connector : 1.0.0.432 (on server with version 12.10.20700.0)
WebConnector: None

<OS environment>
QlikView Server
Server version 12.10.20500: Windows Server 2019 Standard
Server version 12.10.20700: Windows Server 2016 Standard

Npinting Server: Windows Server 2016 Standard

<Scheduled upgrade version>
QlikView Server: 2021 May SR1 12.60.20100
Npinting Server : 2021 May SR1 v21.14.4
ODBC Connector : 2022 Jan SR1 v6.149.1 (planned to be installed on server version 12.10.20700.0)
WebConnector : 2021 December SR1 v2.119.1 (to be installed on the server with version 12.10.20700.0)

These servers are operating as virtualized servers, and I would like to organize the upgrade process.
I would like to receive guidance on how and in what order to proceed with the upgrade.
Please check and reply if possible.

Thanks & Regards.

Hello,

Below I have included the Qlik's help sites best practices for upgrading Qlik product. I would review the release notes of each version and note an changes. I would plan to upgrade and test in a non production environment. The upgrade path should be Qlikview ( Qlikview, ODBC Connector, Web Connector) and after that is confirmed, proceed with Nprinting upgrade. Recommend you reach out to your account manager for professional services if you are unfamiliar with the products and their upgrades.

Note: There are major changes in Qlikview behavior starting from Qlikview 12.30 SR3 and forward from your version of Qlikview 12.10.

@qwebnm like Ray said, I would talk to your Qlik Account Manager about getting some Professional Services, to help ensure a successful upgrade, in particular with NPrinting I would suggest setting up a separate server with the new version, so you can test all your tasks, reports etc.  So here is a rough outline from my experience:

  1. Take a backup of your current NP database
  2. On a new server, install the same (older version) that you have now, then restore the backup
  3. Upgrade it to new version
  4. Test everything!
  5. then test again 🙂

Hi @qwebnm !
On top of what my colleagues said, please consider that QlikView May 2021 will be out of support already on May 25th.
You should consider May 2022, instead, or wait for May 2023.
