I was trying to reduce my app by bookmark. Got, error something like: 'Error: Failed to generate QVW files.. Exception=System.ArgumentException: Empty path name is not legal' . After a couple of alternate tries, I found that if I remove all my 'Always One Selected Value' from list boxes, the issue goes. Is this a known issue? Bug (QV 11 SR2) ? I would appreciate and thank for any shed of light on this.
It has now been indentified as a Bug in earlier SR. I upgraded to QV 11.2 SR5 and tested; working fine. Thank you all for help.
Note: In my previous attached doc, I mentioned tested version - SR6 was a mistake; that was actually desktop version. Sorry for the confusion.
Hi tresesco, I have also notis that if you try to reduce when you have Always One Selected Value selected, it wont reduce at all, very annoying.
I guess that the enforced selection in one box prevents looping in another, hence the "empty path".
It wouldn't hurt to submit as a bug though...
I'm not sure if it's a bug. I think what qliktech would say is that is the expected behaviour, however it is kind of annoying. The problem is that you can't clear or override selections made by a one-selected value.
For example let's say you have a listbox containing Continent dimension and the selected value is let's say "Europe". Then if you have another listbox with Country Dimension and you try to select a country that is not in Europe, like Mexico (in other words that is not within possible values), then that selection in country will be disregarded because the one selected value has more hierarchy/importance/precedence or whatever you want to call it.
This is an issue that affects any process that include looping over possible values (like reduction, or even external apps like NPrinting),
regards
Thank you all for inputs. So, it's an issue !
Hi Tresesco,
Please reach out to Qlik Support after testing this out in the latest release. You can that way get a response whether or not this is expected behavior or a bug.
Regards,
Erik
Thanks Erik Gustafsson for your response. I am in touch with support(through my partner. This is another pain area that I can't directly contact Qlik support) and expecting a reasonable feedback. It seems a bit dicey. There has to be a pattern that can be found out - how qv is actually behaving. I have done couple of testings as in attached.
However, my live application(with much more data) shows a different error: '...Empty path name is not legal'.
Hello again,
Qlik has many direct customers, but in your case your license is acquired through a partner, which is why they should provide first level support according to a contract between the partner and Qlik Support.
An investigation might become a bit long to maintain here, which is why it might be worth reaching Qlik Support to get an in-depth analysis. One needs to analyze Task and DocumentLogs, QDS logs and a sample document in order to reach a full conclusion.
Regards,
Erik
Hi,
I agree. By the time, I thought, may be people here in community could test some similar cases and kindly let know the outcome.
I agree, it is a good place to start - especially if there is an obvious solution.
