Hi,
What is the best way to move to a new server and upgrade to QV12 (from QV11)?
We can't upgrade on the old server because of incompatibility to QV12.
I looked at some materials and discussions, but not quite sure they are appropriate for our scenario.
Thanks!
I would suggest doing a backup of your server first, you will not need to uninstall but can just run the install right away.
All your applications created in QV11 using standard functionality should work fine, though macros and extensions might no longer work.
Hi,
what should be included in the backup?
We just copy it to the new server without any update to settings?
Thank you!
You should take back up for entire QlikTech folder from C drive
You should definitely back up
See Upgrading QlikView in the Qlik online help.
Once upgrade is complete, you'll want to ensure that your Source documents and User documents are stored on separate file paths.
Hope this helps!

Hi Chip,
Thanks for elaborating.
My concern was regarding what to transfer from the old server, and whether we can use a replication of the old server, and then upgrade the replication.
But since the servers have different OS, I guess we'll have to install QV12 on the new server, and proceed from there...
bckup QVPR and move source file to new server.
Run the tasks on new server.
