We have a vm that uses a leased license from the QV server. The vm runs daily tasks (from the Windows command line) to open QVW files in local mode, refresh them, and run various macros. Everything is scripted. We never "open in server" from this vm.
Every 30 days, the leased license expires and we have to manually renew the lease.
Is there a way to make the leased license permanent?
I thought of writing a macro to open a document in the server, but I get prompted by the "open in server" dialog, so it does not seem like this can be scripted.
Thanks for any suggestions.
John
Hi @JohnO,
There isn't a way to make the lease license permanent. The process needs to occur at least every 30 days as you surmise. The QlikView License Lease Technical Brief has all of the pertinent information regarding the license lease process.
If you want to have a permanently licensed QlikView Desktop client, then a stand-alone QlikView Desktop license is what you'll need to apply. This license type won't require the 30 day re-leasing. You may be able to transfer one of your Named User CALs/Professional licenses (depending upon the type of licensing you employ with QlikView) into a stand-alone QlikView Desktop license. You should reach out to your Qlik Account Manager about this.

Our client used to have a stand-alone license for this server, however, when we added some user CALs recently for this client their license was converted to a QS subscription and we were told that stand-alone licenses were no longer supported. Should we be able to get a stand-alone license in this environment?
Thanks, John
Hey @JohnO,
The customer's Qlik Account Manager should be able to assist with this request.

Excellent. Thank you!
