Where do you start the reload - from the gui or from the script-editor? By reloading from the script-editor a window with the sheet-properties appeared after finishing the load - if this window is invisible respectively outside from your screen (it could be easily happens by multi-monitor usage) then it seemed that qlik freezed because this window has the focus - you could check this after the reload by pressing the escape-key. Afterwards you should be able to make further actions within the app again.
Edit: quite the same could be happens with the progress-window if you disabled the auto-closing after finishing the reload - for this go to the user-properties within the tab general to ebanle the closing.
