Hi,
Lately we have moved the qlikview server into a virtual environment, we have 250GB RAM and more CPUs than the original server. however we have noticed a drawback in the reload performance, it is taking now more than 40-50% compared to physical server.
do you have any recommendation regarding virtual server configuration? or have you faced this drawback on virtual server and therefore it is not recommended?
There exist a white paper, look here
Hi,
How many task are running at same time on the VM?
It depends on how many cores you have.
The document from Qlik contains gudielines on how to configure the VMWare environment.
A VMWare setup with the same spec as a physical will always perform less. But you can come close if you set it up correct.
At my client we only use virtualization in development and test. Production runs on physical hardware.
at the same time, you will not have more than 3-4 tasks running. however two of the tasks takes a lot of time to reload and uses 300million+ as total rows and contains heavy execution in the script, so the time for those 2 takes 12 hours and 5 hours.
i have 32 cores of Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2650 v3 @ 2.30GHz 2297MHz
Physical RAM(MB) 245759
Hi,
Is this how long it took each task when you were on physical server?
How many physical cores & how much physical RAM on the physical host server ?
How many other virtual servers on the physical host server and how many virtual cores & RAM on each of them ?
no, this is the current number, they used to take 20-30% less time.
Hi,
I don't know if you've seen this document before, but if you haven't then read through it might help you to answer your question
