Task History only showing previous month in QMC

I have encountered a situation where the Task History in the QMC is only showing tasks from the past month. For example on 12/1/14 there was history from 11/1 - 12/1.  Then the next day the task history only showed history from 11/2 - 12/2. Someone in support informed me that  QlikView does not automatically delete or remove and files or history tasks/activity, therefore it would seem that a Windows setting is causing the problem. Has anyone experienced this problem or know of a solution??

Not true. QMS does keep its house clean by regularly running a job that removes all logs files older than a specific number of days. The default is set at 30 days. If you don't like that, you can change the default by editing a key in an XML configuration file. The config file is called QVDistributionService.exe.config and it is located in the installation directory C:\Program Files\QlikView\Distribution Service, so NOT in the C:\ProgramData folder where you would expect it.

Open the file with a text editor and locate a key called NbrOfDaysToKeepQDSLogs. That's the one.

Hi Peter,

I updated the "NbrOfDaysToKeepQDSLogs" to 365 and rebooted the services and machine so that the changes would be applied. Even after doing that I still see History for the past month.

Do I need to edit something else?

Since you had 30 days previously, the files older than 30 days already has already been deleted. The new setting will make this will not happen going forward. Meaning that tomorrow you will see the last 31 days, next day 32 days etc.

Hi Magnus,

I dont know since what QV Server version this only 30 days history applies, but if I have a Backup of my log files of tasks and in the current version I want to recover all the history in the QMC what should I do besides changing the NbrOfDaysToKeepQDSLogs  value?

Hi Peter,

Do know since what version of QVS was this job added to the QDS? I can't find info about this in the Release Notes.

Emmanuelle,

Sorry but I do not understand what you are asking for. Could you please rephrase?

In Version 11.00 the cleanup was hard coded to 30.

In Version 11.20 the setting was introduced to enable the users to configure this.
