Upgraded QV Server from v9 to v10: Link to Access Point does not work anymore

Any one have this same experience and found a solution?

After the upgrade to V10, the link to the Access Point does not work any more.

It does work on the local server (localhost), but not over the internet. In V9 this worked fine.

This is the link that works (on the server itself):

http://localhost/qlikview/index.htm

And this is the link that worked before, but not any more (with v10):

http://<url of our server>:4750/qlikview/index.htm#

Just followed the upgrade procedure, did not make any changes in the config.

Have tried different other combinations, without success.

Any ideas from you to get this solved?

I managed to resolve this issue by uninstalling and taking the default installation path, i.e. C:\Program Files\QlikView. I had previously used the path C:\Program Files\QlikView10. The non-default installation does not correctly set the config.xml parameters so try checking all path references in config.xml files (WebServer and QvWebServer directories).

Hope this helps

Finally, it has been resolved (with help from the support group in Sweden).

During our installation of QVS/9 on our server, the decision was made to use another port for the Access Point (default is 80).

This different port setting (which worked fine under QVS/9) was not properly used by the upgrade procedure. After manually changing this port number in the Enterprise Management Console under QVS/10 (and restart of the QV webserver) it worked and we could use the Access Point again.

On my server I found some of the paths were set to QVClient instead of QlikViewClients.

When I changed the paths in Enterprise Manager everything worked great. I am guessing that it was using the old 9 directories.

Hello Michael,

we're having the same problem; could you please post the path variable content you have changed? Thanks!

Hello,

1. Open QlikView Enterprise Management Console.

2. Select the System tab at the top.

3. Open the QlikView Web Servers folder. Select your QlikView Web Server.

4. Select the Web tab.

5. Look at the path for QVAJAXZFC (and the others). If it say qvclients then it probably should be changed to

C:\Program Files\QlikView\Server\QlikViewClients\QlikViewAjax.

For some reason the incorrect path qvclients was in my system. Restart the services and you should be ok.

For your information this server originally had the beta and was upgraded. I don't believe this problem will occur on a fresh install.

Regards and glad to help!

It went pretty smoothly for me (Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise x64)

  • Uninstalled QV Server 9.0.7644.9 SR6
  • Made a backup of everything in C:\ProgramData\QlikTech
  • Installed QV Server 10, keeping default directories and settings
  • Re-configured each of the 5 QV services to log on with the appropriate username (Log on as:)
  • Everything started right up - I was prompted to "migrate reload schedules" in one of the management console screens (QlikView Server Settings, Folders)

Running OK so far!

Wigchert,

How has your upgrade to v10 gone? Any regrets for upgrading when you did? Or are you happily moving forward in v10?

Thanks! Tyler

Hello Tyler,

QV10 works ok, users can enjoy the improvements made.

The upgrade was a bit painfull because of the port that we used. Somehow our configuration worked fine with QV9 but not on QV10 server settings (which were migrated during the upgrade). Finally, with help from QlikTech, we got it to work.

If you use the standard port settings, there should be no issue (as another customer had where I did the upgrade as well).

Success!
