Using groups in DMS without Active Directory

Is it possible to make groups in DMS without using Active Directory?

If it possible who can tell me how we can do that?

Hi Drik

This is very much possible.

All you have to do is  go to QEMC--> system --> setup --> Directory Service connectors --> Custom Directory.

Add groups and users here.

Then set the security to DMS, and in authorization tab set the user or group you wana give access to.

Hope that helps

My usernames are from Active directory and i wanna keep it like that. But i want to make custom groups where i can put my AD users in for DMS.

If i use your sollution, than i also have to make new usernames and that is not what i want.

Thanks anyway

Is this still possible?

Hi,

Did you find a solution for this. I trying to do the same thing but no success.

DMS authorization, custum groups and AD user.

AD and custom user auth. works but not custom groups.

Hi,

I dont know will it work or not, but you can try this.

Go to QEMC ->System -> Setup -> Directory Service Connector -> Click on + button -> Select Custom Directory.

Give the name and click apply.

Once you click apply you will find the user tab next to General tab.

Here is the place where you can define your own username and groups.

     Hope this will help you.

I guess you could create local groups on the machine hosting QVS and add the users accordingly and then use these groups?

Thanks, but AD groups and local groups works.

But what I wanted was somehow for the QV admins to manage groups from the management console, and not have to call IS/IT everytime for changes. All users are already in the AD and it would have been nice if it was possible to ad them to the Custom groups in QV.

Sadly it's not possible, would be a great feature to have in my opinion.
