Advanced Histogram help needed!

Well, I think it's advanced anyway...

I have a histogram and matching frequency table, which has several conditional dimensions in (selected using an input box with variables).

(The bin width is also changeable using another input box and variable.)

The expression for all is 'Count(DISTINCT ID)

One of my dimensions (which is all working perfectly) is as follows:

=CLASS(AGGR(AVG({1<GEN={'ALL'}>}AP_Weighted),ID,Type,Set),BinWidth)

When selected, I get the following view:

View 1.PNG

The key thing is, if I want to know which 'IDs' are responsible for a certain range in 'All', I can click on the appropriate column on the frequency table, and in another table I have, it will list just those IDs. For example:

View2.PNG

The problem is...

Another of my dimensions, is slightly more complex:

=CLASS(AGGR(AVG({1<GEN={'ALL'}>}PriorAP)-AVG({1}TOTAL <ID> {1<GEN={'ALL'}>} PriorAP),ID,Type,Set), BinWidth)

With this one, the histogram and frequency table still display as I would expect:

View3.PNG

But when I select a column in the frequency table, I'm not sure what it's doing, but it certainly isn't showing me the IDs responsible for those values:

Does anyone have any idea why this dimension would behave so differently to the other??

It would be difficult to comment on this without looking at this

I was worried that might be the case

To maybe simplify it, it seems to be that with one of my dimensions, selecting the outcome in the table gives me only values that fit that outcome.

So I've added a current selections box, and when I click on my straight table, it shows that I have just one ID selected.

But with other dimensions I've created, selecting the outcome in the table seems to give me a host of other associated IDs which have values that don't fit that outcome.

I've been trying to read up on what affects the behaviour of selections in straight tables - what exactly are they selecting when you click on them? But I can't find anything that'll help me work this out!!

Ya selection with complex dimensions become tricky. I can suggest you this, if you can mock up some data and provide a sample which is close to your really scenario, I can take a look. I would have mocked up the data, but there is two issues, I don't really know the setup, and secondly (more importantly) I don't have the time to do it.

I've mocked up some data but it won't let me reply when it's attached. It's under the file size limit (17MB).

Is there a trick to it?!

Did you only attach and add no text to the response? May be say PFA and then see if it allows you to post?Uploading a Sample

Yep, did all that but the 'Add reply' option is greyed out!

I see that sometimes when its a big file and it is in process to upload it. May be wait for few minutes depending on your connection speed

Hi Sunny,

Mock data attached (hopefully done right!).

So there are two issues that I'm having.

One, is in the Histogram sheet.

If you select 'AP' in the Function input box, and then a Type and a Set, and then select a single frequency from the frequency table, then the 'Current Selections' box shows you which ID that frequency belongs too and you can see this on the 'One' sheet.

Same is true if you select 'Prior AP'.

But if you select any of the other functions, the outcome is different and I don't understand it!

Second issue (sorry to ask for so much - and obviously no worries if you don't have time to look at both). Is getting the 'Relative popularity' function to work in the histogram. The expression works fine in the straight table on sheet 'one' but I can't seem to get it to work in the histogram as I have with all the other measures.

Hi Sunny,

Did you ever get a chance to look at this?

Thanks,

Jess
