Hi,
Earlier in the qlikview server Allow Dynamic CAL assignment is checked. Now I unchecked that one and clicked on the Apply button.
My doubt is will it affect to any bookmarks created in the user documents which are in access point.
Could anyone clarify my doubt.
Thanks.
Hi Amelia,
If I understood right your question, it will not affect users bookmarks, as this has nothing to do with licensing. If a user that created a bookmark has a license assigned, he or she will be able to apply or modify their bookmarks. If a user did create a bookmark in the past but no longer has a license assigned, the bookmark will be kept in the Server, although the user won't be able to see it.
Hope that helps.

Hi,

Hi,
Actually I have some bookmarks created in past and have licence assigned to that user. would it affect anything to that bookmarks. will it affect anything to bookmarks created in future, and also if a user created a bookmark and if he or she not assigned to licence then will they able to see the bookmarks which they created as I confused here.Is it best practice if I uncheck that Allow Dynamic CAL assignment .could you confirm this.
Thanks.
Hi,
License leasing has no better practice that how your users need to be managed, I mean, there is nothing wrong with it if the NTFS permissions will only allow actual QlikView users to access QlikView. Otherwise, I'd suggest to add users manually instead of allowing them to borrow a license.
As I mentioned above, if a user has created a bookmark, he will only be able to see it if he has a license assigned (leased) and therefore access to the document.
If the user had a license, created bookmarks, and license is unassigned, then the user will not longer be able to open the document, therefore not able to use his bookmark.
Hope that helps.

Thanks for your prompt answers.
If you don't mind could you let me know abot this.
As I have 5 qvw files in access point and I assigned one user as Document CAL to see two documents but the user name is same. But he is able to see all the 5 documents. In this how to allow him to see only the documents which is assigned to him.
Regarding Allow Dynamic CAL assignment for the bookmarks which has been created by unassigned user. do you mean that I need to check the box Allow Dynamic CAL assignment for the unassigned users which licence is not assigned to them and for all this will it affect to any PGO files.Could you confirm this as I am new to qlikview.
Thanks.
Hi,
This is a completely different question as it has to do with distribution, and not licensing. Even a user without any license, if he has access to the server, he will be able to see all documents, although he cannot be able to open any of them, of course.
You need to either use NTFS permissions on the filesystem, so a user that is not granted permissions will not see the document, or use the Authorization tab in the User Document tab of the QlikView Management Console should you have an Enterprise Edition of the Server, or use Section access within the document, to get the document list in the Access Point filtered.
Hope that helps.

Hi,
How to use NTFS permissions on the file system. Now do I need to check the Allow Dyanmic CAL Assignment box. Please let me know as this is creating confusion to me as I don't have awareness on the server.
Thanks.
Hi,
I'd strongly recommend you to attend any of the server and administration related training, as it is not trivial to manage a QlikView platform without the proper knowledge of the possibilities.
To assign permissions in the operating system, right click on the file, select Properties, Security and add or remove users. Check with IT if you can do this or should they do it instead.
And no, you don't need to use dynamic assignment, as it has nothing to do with file permissions.
Hope that helps.
Miguel
Thanks you very much.
