CAL Assignment

Hi developers,

When you are in the QlikView Console Management, you can see the CAL´s assigned in Users/User Management/CAL tab. But there is another tab called Documents. Can some of you explain me what that tab means. I have some users with CAL´s assigned but no applications in the Documents tab, but some other users have the same applications in the CAL and Documents tab. I have some users that can not see some apps in the access point and I am guessing the problem.

Thank you!!

Hi,

     So here is the problem.

You need to link the both the domains to qlikview.

Have a look at the post below.

Hi,

The document tab is the tab which will show you all the application which are available under the folder which you have mapped or given as a root folder.

Now if you have only qlikview server, then for each document (when you click on the document under document tab), right side you will see Document CAL tab, where you assign the CAL's to user for selected document.

Now the issue which you said "Users cant see the document on access point" is not related to this.

It depends on the security mode you have selected under System -> Setup ->QlikView Server -> Security -> Authorization.

If NTFS is selected, you need to go to the physical location of the Application ( say folder). Right click on the application -> properties -> security -> Add the user name here to whom you want to show the application on accesspoint and give him read right.

If its DMS mode, go to QEMC -> document tab -> Click on the document -> you will see the tab named "Authorization". Add the user name here to whom you want to show the selected application on accesspoint and click on Apply.

Hi Kaushik,

Thank you very much for the answer. What does it means when some users have all the apps listed in the documents tab, but some users not? And they have CALS assigned for the same documents.

Greetings.

HI,

As i said earlier, having document CAL and seeing application on the accespoint has nothing to do with, unless its a DMS mode where in Authorization tab, you have selected "All authorized users".

Which mode of security you are using in your qlikview server.

HI,

Im using NFTS security. We have had recently a change in the Windows domain, and all the users have temporally 2 domains in AD, but the use only one. For all the users the CALs are assigned in the correct Domain and the apps are also in the Document tab. For other users (the ones I have problems with) the Document tab is empty for the new domain(even tough they have CALs assigned).

The NFTS rights are checked for that users.

Thank you!
