Can you Develop a report with 3300 optional filters and separate 150 pages ?

Qlickview / ClikSence

I am not a Qlickview OR ClikSence Expert

And I have a customer with the requirement to build a Qlickview Or ClikSence

It is based pm Database with 18 Fact Tables and 22 Dim Tables

In average each fact table has about 10 dimensions and 170 measures.

The tables have between 250,000 lines to 1,000,0000 lines,

There is one main table and all the fact tables related to them (Classic Star Schem )

The user wants 1 report!

He wants:

  • Filter on ALL measures and dimensions (in total 3300 OPTIONAL filers)
  • Display in 150 pages all the fields ( Each page will display different groups of measures )

I tried to explain that it's no practical / usable, however, he instils on this structure

So please advise,

Can this be done?

How long would it take to develop?

Did you try asking a substantial amount of money to even try writing down a design on paper?

The danger in such a project is that customers often come to their (Qlik) Senses along the way and the whole project plan for this complex and monstrous report is thrown down the drain. Make sure that you get compensation for every small step you take.

I won't say that it cannot be done. Qlik tools offer a nice technique for creating ad-hoc reports in which a user can decide himself/herself what to visualise. It will be a challenge for sure to make a list of 18 * 170 different measures accessible and usable. But by introducing some common sense you may be able to group dimensions, measures and objects into functional groups that shouldn't all be visible at the same time. Remember that Qlik products are intended for analysing business data and not so much for producing book-sized paper reports.

Anyway, since your analysis only consists of a couple of lines with non-essential data, I can only say that I haven't the faintest idea how long it would take to develop a solution for your customer. And an estimate like "between one week and 2 years" won't sound very useful to you, will it?

Better start with a decent analysis and let the customer decide on budget and timing when you hand over your results.
