I am just a newbie and working in Qlikview 8.5 since a month now. We are testing the product for a telecommunication company where we are dealing with the Oracle database contains more then 100 tables and tera bytes of database.
Since I dont have a proper training or knowledge I just started to explored the product and its amazing. I am having difficulties in loading tables using "Edit Script" there are few problems but the major problem Ive faced is
1. Error "Out of Virtual and/or logical memory, allocating 1MB"
The above error made me pulled my hair and it was so annoying. Ppl think its because of windows virtual memory but I figured its because of the tables and their structure...cause when I commented one table by hit and trial to find the exact one it didn't come again. But left a mystery what was wrong with the model. So i need opinion on it from experts.
2. Another strange problem I've faced I've inserted two tables (similar structure) but different type of data (dont know its from the DBA so cant mess) when I tried to RELOAD it showed me the sign "<< " and showed only one table so cudnt pick up the data from another one. Just because of that I had to keep my two sheets in a seperate QV file with the problem tables....Need to know why also.
3. This last problem which I faced which was I have a CHART related to one table data which contains YEAR+MONTH wise data which was a dimension and that chart populated very well. Later in 5 days we got "May " data which we got from our DATA CENTER abroad for analysis and it was a SQL file. We added the MAY data into the table and it didnt updated the CHART and MAY bar didnt show up. I've tried everything like I've truncated the data in qlikview and FILE->REDUCE DATA->REMOVE ALL VALUES and RELOADED but still it didnt. So as a last resort I had to delete the chart and made it again and it populated perfectly. So want to know why it happend?
All the above 3 points are my experiences with Qlikview developer so far so based on the above I want the following.
1. Want to learn the best way or professional/recommended techniques to load the data from tables and what kinda structure do we need to follow for qlikview.
2. If we deal with a large sequence of dashboards in one file and lots of tables how to design it effectively.
Need an expert opinions from all experts or users who are experiencing similar problems. This post will also help other newbies like me in the future.
