Deployment of reports

Hi there,

I am quite new to QlikView and in the process of understanding how the product works. I am coming from SSRS which makes it easy to deploy reports to a webserver and make it public to other users.

I am currently trying to evaluate how things like that work in QlikView.

Do I really need to have a Enterprise Edition Server / Publisher licence or is there any other way to make a report "public" (no need to give the ability to change the report, just the normal "view and drill down" stuff...

My second question is about parameters. In SSRS I can give the user the ability to change basic parameters like "startdate / enddate" and so on. Is that possible in QlikView? Or do I need to setup the report like "12months rolling" etc.?

Thanks for your help!

Hi,

1) Yes, You need qlikview Server for accessing qlikview reports and document publicly.

once you have qlikview server, than any allowed user can access to qlikview document, by using browser. and access data, what you allowed to him\her. publisher is not requred for your scenrio, but if you want report to be sent automatically to your user, than publisher will done this job.

2) Yes, qlikview reports are more simple and fast than SSRS(have worked on),

in qlikview what ever selections you will make on document, will be passed to reports.

and even you can passed the parameters in browser url..

make a little search about report on community, you will find alot..

Hi there,

first of all - thanks for your help!

Is it really the enterprise server that is necessary? Or is there a cheaper version that could be used?

And the other possibility would be to use the Concurrent Licence in order to transfer reports from one PC to the other and let the user open the report, right?

Thanks again!

for server pricing and details please go here .

and your second option is also will work, if you have 2, 3 users, then dont go for server, just copy report to their systems. but if you have many users, and you want automatically reloading of data..than server is the best..

The Small Business Edition will be enough.

Not quite sure about your second question? Anyone with a license will be able to se the reports as long as they have permission to do this. The concurrent licenses are serverbased so they don't really have anything to do with the actual report. Anyone running a report from the accesspoint will be able to print the report and store it in pdf format.

Concurrent users can only be used on an  Enterprise edition and the PDF distribution service mentioned above needs Publisher and the additional license to be able to distribute using Publisher so having Publisher will not automatically allow you to distribute pdf reports.

Hi there,

okay, I am not sure (yet) what product/licence I have to use in order to get a specific feature - but I think I have a good starting point now in order to do some research for my remaining questions.

Thanks for your help!
